Hi all,

I had an ectopic pregnancy this summer and lost one of my fallopian tubes. Has anyone gotten pregnant with just one tube? We got preg. right when I got off bc so we know we are fertile. Our doc. says that the other fallopian tube will do the job of both, but interent research says that can happen but is rare. I just wondered if anyone has had this experiene.

Thanks,

i have know two seperate people, one only had one overie. and the other has only one fallopian tube and both have children. I currently am ttc after a reversal were they was only able to reconnect one fallopian tube. My Doc say you normally only have one egg to fertilize and you only need one tube for it to travel down. makes sence.

Yes Yes Yes!! I am 7.5 wk PG and only have one open fallopian tube! After 2.5 yrs of TTC, we finally discovered our problem back in July. Originally my husband was diagnosed with a varicole, dr. thought I was ok. We were directed to a reproductive endocrinologist who recommened IUI. After 2 unsuccessful rounds, I had a HSG which was clean. Then 2 more unsuccessful IUIs, and a stumped dr. This lead to our decision of surgery- LAP & HSC. In surgery it was discoverd I had stage 3 ENDO, all was able to be cleaned out... except one of my falloptian tubes was closed-up by scar tissue from the ENDO. Dr. felt the risk of opening it was not worth the benefit, he felt confident we could get pregnant with one tube. Dr. was ready to do IUI, but we wanted to try naturally. Dr. said ok, but he didn't rec. more than 3 mo. After month 1 I gave up hope... however month 2 brought us a great surprise. Our due date is May 29th. I wish you the best of luck and so yes, you can get pregnant with one fallopian tube.

Thank you ladies. I belong to another website "cafemom" and I'm in the ectopic group over there and most of us have just had our ectopics in the past year and our doctors all say different things. Mine says the one tube will do the job, but others' say the tubes take turns, it's rare, etc. Thanks for giving me hope. I am off bc Oct. 17th and then we are free to try :) Yeah!

Congrats to waitingPatiently on your up incoming baby:) Hope everything is going well for you:)
I saw that you had stage 3 Endo. I have not been formally diagnosed with Endo, but my doctor is sending me to a specialist because she is pretty sure that's what I have, any ways my question for you is how long did they think you had stag 3 Endo before they discovered it??? I am worried I have had this for a long time and there for would have a lot of scarring.

Yes, you totally can. My husband & I were trying for over 1 year for baby #2 & I FINALLY ended up prego but with an ectopic. Docs could not save my tube while removing the ectopic and told me to wait 6 months before trying again. Well, I am a very impatient person & we tried immediately & low & behold I got pregnant 7 days later. First time was a charm. I have a healthy 7 month old baby boy. Good luck!

I recently had a tubular pregnancy too. And they removed one fallopian tube! While my surgeon said I can still conceive with one fallopian tube my OB/Gyn said It may happen again. He is sending me for an HSG, I am very scared to do this procedure. I just want to know if anyone has conceived with just one tube in a similar situation I am in right now, and had a successful pregnancy. My doctor said I can wait a few months before I start trying again.
Thanks

I am so happy to hear that women have been able to get pregnant with one fallopian tube. I am already blessed with a three year old, but want another baby. I had an ectopic pregnancy that was discovered just last week, and my tube was removed. I've been depressed over the whole situation. I'm just glad to hear that I have some hope of having another baby soon.

I had an ectopic pregnancy and had one fallopian tube removed. I was told I wouldn't be able to have any children but since my ectopic pregnancy I have had three children naturally. I am also now 5 weeks pregnant with my 4th child.

I had an ectopic pregnancy in April of 2010 and had to have one of my tubes removed my doctor told me i could still become pregnant but it would be very hard. Lately I've been having sex for the last 3 months with no birth control and im still not pregnant.
