I'm 30 and my husband and I have been trying for just under a year. My parents had 3 children by my age, so I never thought I'd have problems conceiving, but here we are.
I've read the Causes of Infertility article, but have no idea what applies to me or to my husband. Nothing appears to fit. Anyone in the same boat as we are?

I was in the same boat. My parents had 6 children, almost all of which, before they were 30. My husband and I tried to conceive unassisted for 4 years, and in September finally went to see a fertility specialist.
First, she instructed us to have intercourse on day 14 of my cycle. Then she had me return on day 15 for a pap smear to check my husbands sperm production and its motility and survival. Which she reviewed under a microscope and felt that the number and movement was OK.
She instructed us to have intercourse on day 16.
She then had us abstain from intercourse, and on day 20 had my husband take a semen analysis test which proved once and for all that his semen were healthy and able, and had blood work done on me to prove that I had ovulated. Since I had, she knew that my infertility was caused by an issue with my reproductive anatomy.
Based on the fact that I had had painful periods, which were completely elevated during the time I was on birth control pills, she was certain I had endometriosis.
I had laporoscopy in October to prove it and to have it removed. My cycle finally regulated itself and we had one unsuccessful cycle. I am taking clomid to increase our chances. But, so far, no luck.
I say, find a fertility specialist and get yourself checked out. If you are not ovulating, fertility meds may be all that is necessary to get you pregnant.

Thanks for the information, fertilitygal. Any idea how we go about finding a fertility specialist?
